Curt Cavin has been hosting a family-oriented “cook out” on the historic Indianapolis 500 Carb Day since 2008.  The goal was to to bring Indianapolis 500 fans closer to the Verizon IndyCar Series and its star drivers. This event has grown into quite the gathering and a unique experience for anyone who come.  The drivers come as they are available and, in a relaxed home style sit down, talk with Curt to the crowd that gathers.  They hang out and take a little time with the fans too. As the events main sponsor is Steak and Shake, there are great “steak” burgers and milkshakes grilled on site.  2017 brought in some great talent too.  A local guy, DJ Indiana Jones, shared the hosting and kept the crowd engaged in between drivers and celebrities.  Actor Jake Short came for an interview and to hang out with the crowd and American Idol winner Trent Harmon came to be the music finale.

The event is free to attend, and all proceeds benefit Basic Needs Simple Solutions and other Indianapolis-area non-profit organizations. Check out and like the face book page here. facebook-icon-preview-1-400x400
